Pranayama

Breathing is something we do our whole lives, but do we ever stop to actually think and observe our breath?  what is a breath?  what does it bring and provide for us?

There is a common saying “If you can control your breath, you can control your mind.”  And this is very true.  Take a moment to observe how you are breathing right now.  Is it shallow?  Is it deep? Is it almost non-existent?  Are you breathing from your chest?  Are you breathing from your belly?  Is your inhale longer than your exhale or visa versa?  How do you feel when you are observing your breath like you are right now? Do you breath when you watch TV or an action-packed movie?  When do you feel the need to take a deep breath?

All of these questions are very important to observe and eventually answer.  If breath is our lifeforce, ie. Prana, then we could learn how to use our breath and prana to improve our own well-being. But how?  There are many techniques and exercises you can practice on a daily basis that will help you relax, lower stress, improve circulation and your overall health.

Each breath you take and give is crucial for your vitality and longevity.  Learning how to breath consciously will help you maximize your life and teach you how to  appreciate the smaller things in life.

Breathing Exercise #1: Just start with inhaling for 3 counts and exhaling for 3 counts.  Do that 10 times when you feel stressed, anxious, overwhelmed, angry, sad, or with low energy.

For more tips, info and exercises, come to my Pranayama Workshop on Learning How To Breath Consciously, this Saturday, May 23 from 3-5pm.  The workshop is only $30 prepay, $40 at the door. I suggest you prepay.  It will be worth each breath. :)  If you have any questions, please feel free to comment or click here.

Blessings and Love,

Rina
